I've only had the Jet for a short while now but on the positive side: 1) It has a brilliant display. Kind of like a monochrome marquee. It's easy on the eyes and features adjustable brightness. The armband and wristband is included (wristband was a bit overkill, not sure when I would need that) and 2) It appears very durable. I've already beat it around at work and it keeps returning alive like Terminator.
On the flip side, the control buttons take a lot of pressure to activate. Usually I'm worried about pressing these things too hard just to be careful but this one demands a little more. My greatest pet-peeve is that it does not take a regular battery. This generation loves the internal (disposable) rechargeable batteries. However, with the traditional method I could still buy a rechargeable battery. Unfortunately, when this runs down, I cannot simply replace the battery and continue on my merry way ... no, I have to plug it into a computer and wait. And rechargeable batteries eventually die. So, if I cannot change the battery in this device, doesn't that mean that I just purchased a disposable mp3 player? Is that rational? Because of this I am dissatisfied but if the button pressure and internal rechargeable battery is fine with you, then it is a great player for the price.

I used this item intensively for the first 6 months following purchase and then a bit more moderately for the rest of the time. I used it while conducting high impact exercise outdoors. the item was exposed to all kinds of temperature, the rays of the sun and humidity.
The armband broke after about a month of usage. After about 5 months the paint started to come off. after about 8 months some of the buttons wouldn't work as well. But, I continued to use the unit for over a year. It still works, but most of the buttons don't work well...I think i subconsciously misplaced it, to justify getting the RCA S2501 with the wireless headset.
I got my money's worth, with all the abuse I put it through, plus, I was ready to move on. Our relationship, RCA 2001, was good while it lasted. LOL!
Not perfect, but again nothing is, everything breaks eventually, and thank goodness!!!! Cause I definitely also tire of them!

I bought this for a plane trip in February. I still use Cds but it was too much to carry, so I figured I could download them to this. I've never had a problem with this until I LOST THE USB Cable. It downloaded music without a problem. I've been looking to find one cheap just for the Cable, but nothing so far...If someone is willing to sell me their USB Cable cheap, please let me know.

Got this mp3 player last year to ride my bike and listen to tunes.. At first it was great, worked great for two months. Then towards the end of the bike riding season, it snows here, the power on button became an issue, it became almost impossible to turn on and turn off.
Then i shelved it for 6 months, and got it out again the other day and no power. Recharged it to full battery, Tried to turn it on no response. i the plugged it in and notice that it is not holding a charge now.. to the thrash with this junk... good luck if you get one.

This is way better than my ipod. For a tenth of the price I got this RCA jet and I think the headphones are far superior, it came with the strap for working out and a radio which did NOT come with the overpriced ipod.
This mp3 player does not have pictures or videos but that is not what I wanted from an MP3 player.
I strongly recommend this over the ipod. Especially, if it's just for work outs.
