Versatile headphones for any activity

Amazon.com Product Description

The Koss SportaPro portable headphones offer portability, flexibility, and a headband designed to be worn either atop or behind the head. Equally well suited for use at work or on a jogging trail, the SportaPro's open, foam-covered ear cups allow for ambient environmental sounds to be heard, which can be helpful in a recreational environment.

The SportaPro's weight is a mere 2.2 ounces, and the headphones boast a frequency response of 15 to 25,000 Hz, delivering (on paper, at least) quite a bit more bass than most home speakers can. Impedance is 60 ohms, with less than a 0.2 percent distortion and sensitivity of 103 dB SPL (with a 1 mW signal).

The SportaPro stereophones are collapsible and come with a carrying case, as well as both 0.125-inch and 0.25-inch jacks. Koss covers the headphones with a lifetime warranty.

 "Great Headphones" 2009-10-05
By G. Jacobs
These replaced MDR-A35 headphones, which just did not have any punch unless eq-ed. These headphones do great with my new phone based MP3 player that unfortunately does not have eq. These headphones seem to have a great compromise of small size and great sound. Much better than any ear buds or sports headphones I've tried. Seem well built for the low budget price.

 "Koss SportaPro Headphone review" 2009-10-02
By Sivad Trebor (Tempe, AZ USA)
I have been the owner of several Koss PortaPro headphones over many years. All were great. I love the sound and open air feel. The only issue I have had with them is that the cord connection in the headset goes bad after I have accidentally yanked on them enough times. I chose to buy the SportaPro headset as it has practically the same sound performance as the PortaPro, but, for less money. I do find the sound performance to be the same as the PortPro. However, I think the PortaPro is just a bit more comfortable on my head. Having said that, the comfort difference is not enough to offset the cost difference. I am satisfied with my purchase.

 "Fantastic for the money" 2009-09-13

I use headphones often-- usually upwards of three hours per day. I use them exclusively for music listening, and I am picky about sound, but am on a budget.

I use headphones while I ride my bike-- and since I wear a helmet I am limited to in-ear buds or wrap-around sports headphones, like these.

I had been using Koss' Spark Plugs. Altho I was very happy with the sound (after modifying them for better bass response), my ears always hurt after a long ride. So, I decided to get some sports phones instead.

My first choice was a pair of Phillips wraparounds (solely because I could purchase them at a local store). Altho they sounded OK, they broke within 6 weeks and I decided I would rather go with a different, more reliable brand.

I narrowed my choices down to the Sporta Phones and the Sennheiser wraparounds... both cost around 20 dollars. Ultimately, I chose Koss due to the lifetime guaranty.. and am I glad I did!

These things sound FANTASTIC with my Sansa mp3 player-- they do not even need any equalization. The entire sound spectrum is reproduced relatively accurately (altho there is a definite slight emphasis of the lower region, which I personally like and which makes them sound "musical").

They produce a realistic sound stage-- you can easily place where the musicians were standing in relation to each other on most recordings of decent quality. This is the true test of any high-quality audio product.

Lastly, they are incredibly comfortable in either the "straight up" or the "wraparound" positions. These are so light you forget they are even on your head, and the little foam pressure relievers do a great job of keeping the pressure off your temples... a simple yet very ingenious design.

They may not be the best looking phones on the market, but they may well be the best sounding cans for under 100 dollars out there. You won't be sorry if you purchase the Sporta Phones.

 "Clean sound spirit" 2009-06-15
By Joao A. V. Prino (Lisboa, Portugal)
I've migrated from the PortaPro to these in the attempt of a more sportive / clean look than its twin offers. It was a success, the sound quality makes this headphone the best in its class as the PortaPro has as historical factor. The sound is so clean, precise and powerfull like it's supposed to be. I would ever think about earplugs while these exists.

The bad side of this headset is that the headband while behind the head can press your skull quite a bit if used more than 3 hours straight. Or may just be my big head! Nevertheless the sponges that help the confort of this usage, may rip apart sooner than you expect dependingon the type of usage you give. It comes with a carry bag which is great for protection. I do love abd carry them everywhere I go. A must for every "portable" music lover!
